
France or the French Republic is the largest country in Europe and one of Europe’s most influential nations which has and continues to influence world affairs. France is located in Western Europe bordered by Spain in the southwest, Great Britain up north, and Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Italy due East. The capital of France is Paris, the ‘City of Light’. France is also the most visited European country because of its various historical and cultural attractions many of which are in Paris.
France is home to more than 65 million people which make it the world’s 20th most populous country. French is the official language of France as well as some of its former colonies. The leading religion is Christianity which like Great Britain has been secularized.
France has the second largest economy in Europe and is the fifth largest economy in the world. France’s economy is mostly driven by finance, services and manufacturing.
Because of France’s large geography, climatic conditions vary per region. Northern regions experience cooler weather while the southeastern regions enjoy a warmer Mediterranean climate.
As Europe’s most visited country, France has plenty of landmarks and attractions which include the Eiffel Tower and the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Louvre Museum in Paris; the Palace of Versailles and Mont Saint-Michel. Many French provinces and territories also have some of the most unforgettable and picturesque landscapes.
