Germany

The Federal Republic of Germany is a country located in Central Europe bordered by Denmark up North, Poland and Czech Republic due East and Switzerland and Austria due South. The capital of Germany is Berlin which is also its largest city. Berlin was split in two after World War II into communist East Berlin and Democratic West Berlin separated by the infamous Berlin Wall. It was unified in the 1990s after the fall of Communist Russia. Other notable cities include Munich, Cologne and Hamburg.

Germany is home to eighty-one million people and ranks as the 16^th most populous nation. The official spoken language is German. The predominant religion is Christianity followed by Islam. Germany’s economy is heavily influenced by the service sector and industry which specializes in machinery, automobiles and chemical goods.

Germany is known for its achievements in the Arts, Science and Technology as well as product quality. Some of its notable residents are musicians Ludwig Van Beethoven and John Sebastian Bach, writers The Brothers Grimm and famed scientist Albert Einstein.

Germany is the third most visited country in Europe and is also one of the safest. Germany hosts plenty of cultural and gastronomic festivals and has plenty of scenic attractions and picturesque landscapes. Germany’s most notable landmarks include the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag Building, the Cologne Cathedral, Europa Park, Berlin Zoological Garden and Legoland Deutschland.
