Greece

When one thinks of the Mediterranean, one thinks of perpetual sunny weather, clear blue waters, white sandy beaches and the exotic lands of Greece. Greece or the Hellenic Republic is a southern European country bordered by Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria to the North, the Mediterranean Sea by the South, Aegean Sea to the East and the Ionian Sea to the West. The capital city of Greece is Athens.

Greece and its islands are some of the most visited sites in Europe mainly because of its many attractions, very rich history, wonderful Mediterranean climate and weather and its beautiful resorts. Greece is populated by an estimated 11.4 million people. The official language of Greece is Greek and the prevailing religion is Greek Orthodox. The main engines of the Greek economy are its shipping industries and tourism.

Greece has several famous landmarks which include the Parthenon Temple in the ancient Acropolis located in the city of Athens. The Parthenon is one of the many wonders of the ancient world. As one of the oldest civilizations in the world, Greece’s rich history is kept in its many museums. There is the New Acropolis Museum which houses many Greek, Roman and Byzantine Artifacts, the Old Acropolis Museum and the Byzantine Museum.

The beaches and islands in Greece are famous in themselves. The beautiful Mediterranean climate coupled with clear blue waters and white beaches makes Greece a tourist’s paradise.
