Spain or the Kingdom of Spain is a country located in the Western tip of Europe in the Iberian Peninsula. It is bordered by France in the northeast with Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean to the West. It is the second largest European country next to France. The capital of and largest city of Spain is Madrid. Spain has a rich history which has greatly influenced many parts of the world.
Spain has an estimated population of over forty-six million people. The official language is of course, Spanish. Because of Spain’s colonial exploits, the Spanish language is the third most spoken language in the world. The predominant religion is Roman Catholicism which Spain has helped spread to its colonies in Asia and South America.
Spain’s economy is supported by its services, manufacturing and tourism industries. Its tourism industry has become the world’s second largest. Climate in Spain is mostly Mediterranean on the mainland and its island territories in the Balearic and Canaries: Tenerife, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. The Canarien Islands have the perfect type of climate for tourism.
Spain has many famous landmarks and attractions. It also has a unique architecture which is a mix of European and Arab influences. These include the majestic Sagrada Familia Temple in the city of Barcelona, the beautiful Alhambra Palace in Granada and the Madrid Royal Palace.
